Summary: Planning for this project began when SWA was selected as the laboratory consultant and supplier and installer of the laboratory casework, fume hoods and equipment. The process started with meetings with each department resulting in space planning, preliminary layouts and equipment lists. As things evolved, budgets were prepared and adjusted as needed to keep the project on track. In addition, related work (plumbing, electrical and mechanical) was coordinated making sure things were done right on the front end eliminating costly changes for the owner down the road. SWA’s project management and engineering team then prepared specifications, coordinated scope of work with other trades and submitted final drawings with elevations and equipment details. Prior to production, construction process was monitored and field dimensions were obtained to insure rough-in locations were correct and make sure there the casework and equipment would fit properly once it arrived. A staged delivery was scheduled with the construction manager to comply with a very aggressive construction schedule. Our professional installation team worked tirelessly to get their work done on a timely basis while coordinating efforts with other trades and making sure the installation was something the owner would be proud of for years to come. In the end, the project was completed ahead of schedule and within budget.
