Project Spotlight: Liberty Bowl Stadium

Who:

University of Memphis

Where:

Memphis, Tennessee

Objective:

Replace the lower bowl seating area of the stadium with Irwin Seating Solara seating.

Summary of Work:

Steve Ward and Associates was fortunate to be awarded the seating contract for the lower bowl seating renovations at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, TN. SWA worked closely with the owner and architect to develop and execute a custom design solution.

After discussing design options and configurations, the university chose the Solara chair from Irwin Seating. The Solara chair maximizes legroom by utilizing an European rail mount design. Solara, with its rail mounted stanchions, allows for a smaller chair envelope (overall chair depth) while maintaining great ergonomics and comfort. Rail mounted systems also allow for adjustable chair widths, a featurenot available with conventional fix seating. The rail mounted chair, armrest, and aisle standards, can be adjusted from 19" to 24" wide with a few quick turns of a wrench. This concept has put a whole new spin on "flexibility" when it comes to conventional fixed seating!

Irwin Seating’s rail mounted Solara chair has set the precedent for stadium seating in the future in both new construction and renovations alike. This remarkable seating design combines style, function, and comfort, while maintaining a classic look.
